Frame.io is excellent at review. EditWise is the system around the review: the client’s request before it, the revision rounds your client can see, the approval, the invoice and the profit after it. We build it for you from your website, before you decide.

  • Stay with Frame.io if review is the only thing that is broken and your team is under 15 people.
  • Look at EditWise if the trouble starts after the review: rounds nobody counted, approved work nobody invoiced, clients whose profit nobody knows.

Frame.io runs the review.
EditWise runs the job around it.

A review is one step in a longer job. Before it, a client asks for something in a chat. After it come the next round, the approval, the invoice, and the question of whether that client paid enough for the work. Frame.io was built for the review. EditWise was built for the whole job.

It starts on your client’s side. They tap a link in the chat you already use, see your logo, type their name and email, and they are in. No account. No password. They draw on the frame, comment on the moment that bothers them, and press approve.

On your side, any comment can become a revision, and every revision counts toward the rounds your client agreed to. Four kinds of file go through the same room:

  • Video: comments at a moment or across a range, drawing on the frame, attachments, and a choice of version.

  • Images: drawing and markup, comment threads, version compare.

  • PDFs: comments pinned to the page, drawing on the page, comments on selected text.

  • Text documents, such as scripts and copy: comments on selected text, drawing, threads.

Frame.io Team stops at 15 members.

Frame.io’s Team plan costs 25 USD per member per month, for up to 15 members (checked 16 September 2026). Past 15, the next plan is Enterprise, at a custom price. A team of 12 that plans to be 20 will meet that step on the way.

EditWise has no tiers and no cap. The 16th person costs what the 5th did: $49 a month on annual. Prices exclude applicable tax.

  • Who pays in EditWise: A paid seat is anyone who is assigned work or logs time. Seats are named and freely reassignable, unlimited swaps, at no charge.
  • Who is free in EditWise: Free and uncapped: client contacts, external reviewers, guest approvers, stakeholders, and any collaborator who only views, comments or approves.
  • Who is free in Frame.io: external reviewers, who comment free through share links (checked 16 September 2026). Reviewers cost nothing on either.

Five of the nine steps
happen outside Frame.io.

Client work runs in nine steps: Request, Brief, Deliverable, Version, Review, Revision round, Approval, Invoice, Profit. Frame.io holds the deliverable, its versions, the review and the approval. It has no budgets, no invoicing, no priced rounds and no client profit (checked 19 August 2026). The other five steps still happen. Today they happen in chat, in a spreadsheet and in your head.

  • Request. Clients ask in WhatsApp, by email and on calls, and someone retypes it. In EditWise, clients send new work through a request form you design. It lands as a project, not a message.

  • Brief. The request becomes a project built from your own templates, with the client’s answers already in it.

  • Revision round. Round four of a job you quoted for two. Nobody counted, so nobody paid. In EditWise, your client sees “Round 2 of 3” before they comment. A round past the allowance shows its price before they submit, and with their yes it becomes a line on the next invoice at the agreed rate. They agree first, so nobody argues later.

  • Invoice. The work went out three weeks ago. The invoice did not. EditWise flags delivered work with no invoice in amber on your first screen, from the day it goes out. It builds the invoice from delivered work, time, expenses and custom lines, priced off the client’s agreement, and exports it as a PDF. EditWise produces the commercial invoice that carries the line-item record of what was delivered and what was approved, and you file it through your own compliant system. It does not collect payment.

  • Profit. Project budgets warn you when a job goes over. Profit per client comes from the budget, not a timer, so it works with time tracking switched off.

Frame.io alone costs less.
Add a money tool and, at 10 people,
the sum matches EditWise’s price.

Seat lines only, per month, before storage, at published list prices checked 16 September 2026.

Frame.io Team, 10 members
250 USD. If review is all you need, this is the cheaper answer.
Frame.io Team plus a money tool, 10 people
490 USD. The money tool here is Productive Professional, 24 USD per user per month billed annually, with a ten-user minimum. We use it because its price is published.
EditWise, 10 seats
$490 a month. That matches the pair.
20 people
Frame.io Team stops at 15 members, so the pair has no published price: Enterprise is custom, plus 480 USD for Productive Professional. EditWise is $980 a month.

We counted every person on both tools. If only your editors need Frame.io seats, your pair costs less. Your drive, chat app and time tracker are in none of these sums. Prices exclude applicable tax.

Choose Frame.io if
review is the only
thing that is broken.

Choose Frame.io if your team is under 15 people, review is the only step that hurts, and your editors live in Premiere and After Effects. Frame.io is built for review, it is connected to Adobe’s editing tools, and for review alone it costs less than we do. If your requests, rounds, invoices and budgets already run cleanly somewhere else, you do not need us. Come back when that changes.

Frequently asked questions

Do we have to stop using Frame.io?

No. EditWise does not connect to Frame.io, so nothing breaks if your editors keep it. The round count, the approval and the invoice line in EditWise run on the reviews your clients do in EditWise.

Do reviewers cost money on either?

No. Frame.io’s external reviewers comment free through share links (checked 16 September 2026). In EditWise, clients and reviewers are free and uncapped. You pay only for people who are assigned work or log time.

What happens when we pass 15 people?

On Frame.io, the Team plan stops at 15 members and the next plan is Enterprise, at a custom price (checked 16 September 2026). On EditWise, nothing changes: no tiers, one seat price, the same for your 16th person as for your 5th.

Does EditWise review video as deeply as Frame.io?

EditWise reviews video with comments at a moment or across a range, drawing on the frame, attachments and a choice of version. It does not offer real-time synced review, sub-second timestamps or a plugin for your editing software. If your editors need review inside Premiere, Frame.io is the better fit for that step.

Does EditWise cost less than Frame.io?

No. For review alone, Frame.io Team costs less: 250 USD a month for 10 members, against $490 for EditWise. Add a money tool and the pair costs 490 USD at 10 people, the same as EditWise (rival prices checked 16 September 2026). Prices exclude applicable tax.

Can we see EditWise before we pay?

Yes, on your own work. After a 10-minute call, we build your workspace from your website with three of your real clients in it, and walk you through it on a 45-minute call. If you buy, it becomes yours. There is no free trial and no empty account.

What is the difference between EditWise and Frame.io?

Frame.io is a review tool owned by Adobe and connected to Premiere and After Effects. Its Team plan costs 25 USD per member per month for up to 15 members, and larger teams move to Enterprise at a custom price (checked 16 September 2026). Frame.io has no budgets, invoicing, priced rounds or client profit (checked 19 August 2026). EditWise joins client review to requests, revision rounds the client sees, approval, invoices and per-client profit, and the EditWise team builds the workspace before the buyer decides. EditWise produces the commercial invoice that carries the line-item record of what was delivered and what was approved, and you file it through your own compliant system.
