EditWise vs
Filestage (2026)
Filestage gets your client to the approval. EditWise also gets you from the approval to the money: the round your client agreed to, the invoice line, the budget and the profit per client. Nothing forgotten between the approval and the invoice. Nothing given away by accident.
- Filestage is a European review specialist with data residency options.
- EditWise joins review to the money, and we build it for you before you decide.
Last verified: Filestage’s pricing and data residency pages on 20 August 2026, Filestage’s features on 19 August 2026, Productive’s price on 16 September 2026. If something has changed, email marko@editwise.io and we will correct it.
Filestage covers the review.
The money needs other tools.
Client work runs in nine steps: Request, Brief, Deliverable, Version, Review, Revision round, Approval, Invoice, Profit. Filestage holds the deliverable, its versions, the review and the approval, across many file types. It has no time tracking, no billing and no project money (checked 19 August 2026). The rest of the job sits in other tools, or with nobody.
The round your client agreed to. Round four of a job you quoted for two. Nobody counted, so nobody paid. In EditWise, your client sees “Round 2 of 3” before they comment. A round past the allowance shows its price before they submit, and with their yes it becomes a line on the next invoice at the agreed rate.
The invoice. The work went out three weeks ago. The invoice did not. EditWise flags delivered work with no invoice in amber on your first screen, from the day it goes out. It builds the invoice from delivered work, time, expenses and custom lines, priced off the client’s agreement, and exports it as a PDF. EditWise produces the commercial invoice that carries the line-item record of what was delivered and what was approved, and you file it through your own compliant system.
Budgets and profit. Project budgets warn you when a job goes over. Profit per client comes from the budget, not a timer.
The request. Clients send new work through a request form you design, and it lands as a project, not an email.
Filestage plus a money tool
is two bills. EditWise is one.
With a review tool, you still need something for invoices, budgets and profit. That is a second bill, and a second place where the same job lives.
- Filestage
- prices published on its pricing page. Which plan and price fit a 10-person agency is not verified, so we do not add it up for you (checked 20 August 2026).
- A money tool, for example Productive Professional
- 24 USD per user per month billed annually, with a ten-user minimum. For 10 people, 240 USD a month (checked 16 September 2026).
- EditWise, 10 seats
- one bill, $490 a month on annual. It covers review, rounds, invoices, budgets and client profit.
We are not saying the one bill is smaller. We are saying it is one: one record of what the client approved and what you billed for it, instead of two you match by hand. Prices exclude applicable tax.
EditWise pricingChoose Filestage if
review and approval
are the only problem.
Choose Filestage if review and approval are the only thing that is broken, and where your files are stored in the EU matters to you. Filestage is a European review specialist with data residency options (checked 20 August 2026). EditWise is hosted on Microsoft Azure, and we have not published the hosting region yet. If your invoices, rounds and budgets already run well somewhere else, you do not need us.

Frequently asked questions
Does EditWise handle our file types?
EditWise reviews video, images, PDFs and text documents in one room. On video, reviewers comment at a moment or across a range and draw on the frame. On images, they draw and mark up. On PDFs, they comment on the page or on selected text. On scripts and copy, they comment on selected text. Any comment can become a revision.
Does Filestage do time tracking, billing or project money?
No. On 19 August 2026, Filestage’s own pages showed no time tracking, no billing and no project money. It is built for review and approval.
Where is EditWise hosted?
On Microsoft Azure. We have not published the hosting region yet. If data residency is a must for you today, Filestage offers data residency options (checked 20 August 2026).
Can we keep Filestage for review and use EditWise for the money?
You can, but the two will not talk to each other: EditWise has no integrations and no public API. The round count and the invoice line in EditWise come from reviews your clients do in EditWise.
Do reviewers cost money in EditWise?
No. Client contacts, external reviewers, guest approvers, stakeholders, and any collaborator who only views, comments or approves are free and uncapped. A paid seat is anyone who is assigned work or logs time.
